Leagues, Wilson County has a couple of the most active leagues left that offer boys softball. At one time there were three others, Watertown, (where I first saw boys softball) Alexandria, and Norene.
Auburntown in nearby Cannon Co. had a boys league also. Today the activity in boys softball remains high as some of the boys hold on to the tradition and as I've tried to explain to skeptics,
a lot of the guys just flat enjoy tournament softball
As far back as the late 1980's there were teams from this year playing in National Tournaments.
I remember the scene in the early 90's as being one where the best atheletes in each community played boys softball. Many a night was spent at the different ballfields watching and playing the game. Keep playing the game guys...pass it on!
